Traditional Quilts

"Faith, Family, and Friends at the Crossroads"

I started this original design in 2009, but it didn’t become truly meaningful until 2010 when my husband and I lost my father, and his mother within 2 weeks of each other.  In our grief, we felt at the crossroads of life.  Of course our faith in the Cross of Jesus Christ was always at the center of our lives, as it is in the quilt.  Two short months after our losses, we were thrilled to hear we would be grandparents for the first time.  This quilt celebrates the blessed circle of life and God’s goodness to us.  Finished 2/2013.

My quilt has a total of 3,076 individual pieces.  It has 101- six inch blocks; 72 pieced (mostly by the foundation method) and 29 fused and machine appliqued.  It is queen sized at 87" x 87".  I'll be trying my luck with this quilt in the show circuit, then it will be a keepsake for my precious granddaughter, Pixley Jane.

"Jesus, The True Vine" (from John 15 in the Bible)
Queen size quilt completed 4/2009

This is my original design using traditional Biblical blocks about the life of Jesus Christ.  Many of the blocks came from Rosemary Makhan's books.  The others were from my EQ5 program.  They are as follows:
Star of David, Dove in the Window, Crown of Thorns, Carpenter's Wheel, Cross and Crown, Garden Walk, Bethlehem Rose, Road to Paradise, Golgotha, Star of the East, Christmas Star, Double Cross, Hosanna, Star of the Magi, Temple Court, and Storm at Sea.

This was my first longarmed project to go to the quilt shows, after taking all of 2008 to get to know my Gammill longarm machine.
Some of the quilting designs were original as well, and inspired by Sally Terry's book, "Hooked on Feathers."

Most of all I want to boldly express my love for God in my quiltwork, both large and small.
My quilt made it's debut at the 2009 NQA 40th Anniversary show in Columbus, OH.

I want to give all the glory to God!

Following the idea of naming my quilts after my favorite hymns, I designed and created,
"All Things Bright And Beautiful"

"Prairie Star Quilt"

 auctioned at Lutherdale in 2014

This is a sassy kaleidoscope quilt I made for my daughter Mindy,
using colorful mardi gras fabrics.
I used my EQ5 for this design.  Finished 5/2005.

This is a queen size quilt I made for my son Mark.
He asked for an Asian inspired design with sepia toned fabrics.
I designed this on my Electric Quilt 5 software, and finished it 2/2005.
