what's new

Hello Friends,
You have come to my "What's new" page to see what I've been up to.  Well, currently I have been doing a lot of hand sewing on hexies with Civil War reproduction fabric, and have a wall quilt in mind using my Great-Great Grandmother, Lucy Brown-Crain's photo.  Also I have taken to my crochet needles and have made several chemo caps.
I have had a recent health crisis with oral cancer, although I never smoked.  I had surgery on November 16th to remove a tumor, part of my hard palate (partial maxillectomy) and two molars.  My doctors felt certain that they had gotten all of the cancer, but later discovered that it had moved to the lymph nodes of both sides of my neck.  I am currently almost finished with 7 weeks of Monday through Friday radiation treatments and 7 weekly chemo infusions to insure that any microscopic cancer cells are eradicated completely.  Since the cancer was moving in an aggressive manner, my team of doctors agreed that my treatment plan should be even more agressive.
My faith in God has certainly grown through this trial, and I intend to be around for many years to come in the land of the living.  Check back with me soon and you will see that I am up and running again.
